Jamie’s dissertation, How To Accomplish Correct Techniques In Drumming And Achieving Success, of which he received a first, is all about making drummers aware of the health factors involved in drumming but to also use these techniques to make themselves the best drummer they can be. Applying the correct techniques will ensure the drummer has a long and healthy career in the industry. Unfortunately, Jamie has experienced some minor injuries first hand due to poor technique and using a self-taught approach from day one. Injuries sustained were repetitive strain injury, RSI, in his thumb and wrist, lower back pain, neck pain and strains from gripping my sticks too hard. This wasn’t helping at all, suffering after most performances/practice sessions. As a result of this, Jamie decided to talk to pros in the industry such as Steve White, Derrick McKenzie, Morgan Howell (Soulpersona), Nick Van Gelder and Joe Yoshida to see how they cope with the rigours of touring, gigging and constant session work.

Please visit the Drumming Techniques tab for a few videos touching on some of the more important topics to make sure you don’t injure yourself.
